The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), through its School of Computer and Information Sciences (SOCIS), has launched a new Master of Science in Data Science and Analytics (MSCDSA) programme in Open Distance Learning (ODL) mode. The two-year degree programme is designed to meet the growing demand for skilled professionals in the field of data science and analytics across diverse sectors.

The M.Sc. (Data Science and Analytics) aims to train learners in essential computational and statistical skills required for data-driven problem solving. The programme is suitable for learners from a wide range of academic backgrounds who wish to strengthen their existing knowledge or transition into careers as data science professionals. It prepares learners to apply data science techniques to real-world problems in domains such as business, healthcare, social sciences, and engineering.

Programme Objectives include:

·         Providing a strong foundation in statistical and computational methods for data analysis

·         Equipping learners with skills to collect, manage, analyze, and interpret large and complex datasets

·         Enabling application of data science techniques to solve real-world, domain-specific problems

·         Preparing learners for careers in data science and analytics

The programme is offered in English medium with a specialization in Data Science and Analytics. The eligibility criterion is a Bachelor’s degree of at least three years duration from a recognized university. If a learner decides to EXIT from the programme after successful completion of all the courses of first two semesters (40 credits), then the learner is eligible for the award of Post Graduate Diploma in Data Science and Analytics.

The fee structure is Rs. 13,000 per semester, in addition to registration and development fees as applicable.
